A Not So New Year’s Message

New Year Message USE YES
I guess you could say the odds are always stacked against
the year turning out the way we had hoped it would. When we
spent last New Year’s Eve reflecting on 2011 and thinking of all the
plans imagined for 2012 as well as all the hopes dreamed of
for the world at large, I suppose mostly we never were
expecting they all would really come true.
But isn’t this after all the beauty of it all?  Our ability for sustained
grandiose dreaming and hoping in spite the many conflicts, trials and
tribulations we see befall our countries and our fellow man? And
isn’t that ability derived from the courage and strength we witness
year after year in the people that are faced with the most unimaginable
tragedies and sadness?
And what of the caring and love and giving we see humankind reaching
out with time and time again to come to the aid of people who have been stricken
with these tragedies and sadness? Can we say that all is wrong with the world when we
see so many people from all over the world no matter their country, religion,
race or political persuasion reach out to the stricken in such a wonderful way?
Now I know this isn’t exactly a typical New Year’s message but I wanted to set my stage
to go into 2013 focusing not on what’s wrong with the world because it’s way way bigger than me.
My New Year’s resolution is to focus on the goodness in people, the goodness in the world
and keep dreaming and hoping.
Hopes and Dreams in 2013!

    • It’s sometimes hard to see through all the madness and sadness and pull out the good and the hope but we just have to keep on keepin’ on! It can get you down if you let it; weed out the bad and keep what’s good and that includes people!

  4. Uncle Tree says:

Best wishes to you and yours in 2013, DiAnne!
And “Keep on truckin’!” as that old poster reminds us. 😉
