Elusive Butterfly

Elusive butterfly

All she had really wanted to do
Was leave her own foot prints in the earth,
Her own hand prints in the sand,
And live in a world where her dreams
Were not more normal than her reality.

But it seemed to be a condition of her universe
that everything only seemed perfectly normal
as she hid in her own truth and this perceived sanity.

For her this normal had always been the elusive butterfly
Something she only caught a faint glimpse of
When the rhythms of her thoughts
became interrupted by some temporary complacency.

And now she had finally come to realize
if it required a state of complacency
to achieve and maintain this normal,
she would remain a caterpillar forever…

When all she had really wanted to do
Was leave her own foot prints in the earth,
Her own hand prints in the sand,
And live in a world where her dreams
Were not more normal than her reality.

To remain a caterpillar forever for normalcy = complacency …is heart wrenching reality for many who are both rational and emotional…..Knowing that you could be a butterfly but can not handle the consequences…..A moving poem ! Well done..
