Paint a smile…

Paint a Smile 2

Sometimes it a little tough
to paint a smile on the face of getting older.

It’s really not the face
you’re necessarily worried about –
although it has its problems too.

It’s all the other little nuances
that creep in here and there
under the door of the passing years.

Sometimes it seems you’ve
lost your grip on everything
except all the other years that went before.

Those cool fake Louboutins have been replaced
with sensible Skechers or the like.

And your clothes closet has morphed from a version
of Hot Topic to Lily Pulitzer.

The only standing dates on your calendar are now with
Slug-A-Bug and Tru-Green.

But more importantly….

Those kids of yours seem to come around
a little less and the visits are a bit more brief.

And the grand-kids, they have become
a little less needy, and their hugs and kisses fewer.

Yep, sometimes it’s a little tough
to paint a smile on the face of getting older.
