Nobody Else

When our feet hit the floor in the morning
We know we have ourselves for at least
one more day.
And for that I suppose we should be proud.

For we have fought our way to this day,
Nobody else.
We have become the heroes we needed to be when needed
Nobody else.

We may wonder what trials remain in front of us,
What mountains are left to climb,
How are we to summon the strength to climb them?

If we can continue to believe in the moral philosophy
that brought us to this day,
then we can honor, not abhor, the tragedies
that would reveal how deep and loving we really are.

If we can embrace the beauty of our souls
As they grew through all of the strife,
Then we can draw from that
the strength we need when needed.
Nobody else.
